Australia Bans Skinny Models: Realistic or Farfetched?

Australia is following in Italy and Spain's footsteps and attempting to phase out super-skinny models from their catwalks and magazines. Understandable, but some of the points in their strategy are just absurd. According to News.com. au, Australia plans to:

  • Refrain from using models who are very thin - or male models who are excessively muscular. Ugh? Since when did being too muscular become an issue? Unless I missed something, these hotties are strutting down the runway not performing in the olympics, i.e. no steroids necessary. And wasn't manorexia the thing now? (FYI, this is Bruno Rosendo from Models 1)

  • Not promoting rapid weight loss, cosmetic surgery, excessive exercising or any advertisements or editorial content that may promote a negative body image. The weight loss and cosmetic industries are valued at probably billion dollar plus. How can they can control free enterprise? Besides, look at what Portia's Alli pills have done for her? She will be on every On-Schedule show this LFW.
