Manners of Millinery

Ascot has to be one of the events of the year where there is no excuse not to dress up. Killer heels, outrageous hats and obviously as much money as you can throw in one go at a dress, just remortgage you might regret it otherwise.

However there are rules and regulations that should be followed such as leave the dress that shows what you had for breakfast at home. I couldn’t resist dropping one of our milliners a line to ask for tips so in the words of Nerida Fraiman . . .

"If your not used to wearing hats, I suggest hanging around the house in the fascinator so that they get use to it and feel confident for the occasion.”

"Don’t underestimate the power of a small hat.”

“If there is a label in the hat make sure it is against your forehead.”

“Hair up with hats.”

“Above all think of your hat as a social canopy.”

This year pulled in the usual crowds including Simon Cowell, The Queen, Isabell Kristensen (sporting are very own Nerida Faiman), Danielle Lineker and many more all dressed to kill but this is no ordinary event, this is one of the events of the years where the ladies are clawing for column inches.

Take this glamorous lady (Mrs Edward Claridge) in lavender where excess is clearly best, known for her outrageous hats year upon year this English rose ensures tongues wag. Also a good for one keeping a secret Mrs Edward Claridge NEVER reveals who is responsible for the look. She attended every day of Ascot complete with various outfit changes . . . we could all learn a thing or two from her.

And just for the hell of it I thought I would post up some images of the weird and wonderful so enjoy and feel free to comment . . . . .

Above all though have a good time however try and avoid the following!
